What’s your role at Alpha Agency?

My role is super varied, which is how I like it! I joined the team in 2020 and since then have been involved in, and led, projects spanning marketing & content strategy, corporate positioning and articulation, culture & marketing function audits and sustainability reporting of all creeds.

My training as a journalist and obsession with reading from a young age mean words are my currency. Beyond that, my major motivators are getting the best from people, reaching audiences effectively, and stepping back to discover the overarching angle, solution or strategy for our clients.

What has been your journey to get here?

I studied international relations as an undergraduate, then secured a post-graduate diploma in journalism. On graduating, I spent five years as a financial journalist in London writing for the full gamut of audiences – retail through to institutional investors. Disillusioned with the level of “churnalism” involved in running a news website, I took time out to travel and learn Spanish.

When I returned from South America, I joined what became an award-winning editorial team within BNY Investments, where I worked for a total of six years, including a stint in New York. At BNY, I became increasingly focused on content strategy, ensuring our output reflected business priorities and aligned to the overarching brand.

What should people know about you?

I really care. I am thoughtful and intentional, and I’ll always give you time.

Other than your current role, what would your dream job be?

I’d love to run a café come bookshop. Surrounded by cakes and novels = heaven.

If you were stuck on a desert island, what one luxury could you not do without?

Books! A kindle wouldn’t do – I’ve tried and failed to get into ebooks.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

Carly Simon, “You’re so vain”.
